The United Nations

FROM WIKIPEDIA:
“The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945 after the Second World War by 51 countries committed to maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights.”
Currently, “There are 193 United Nations (UN) member states, and each of them is a member of the United Nations General Assembly.”

The United Nations is a fascinating organization, and one which we should know more about. Various polls indicate most people believe the UN should be:
• stronger
• able to go into countries and investigate human rights abuses
• authorized to use force to address a variety of international crises
• able to stop a country from supporting terrorist groups
• able to prevent new countries from acquiring nuclear weapons
